The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse has been built with advanced customization technology so you can fine tune your mouse to your playing style. It comes with two interchangeable grips from which you choose for your level of comfort. What you get is a 3200 dpi full-speed USB laser engine with adjustable dpi, as well as onboard memory that holds up to 5 mouse setting profiles, giving you the most advanced performance.

For more control, the G9’s weight tuning system allows you to add up to 28 grams of additional weight, while the exclusive MicroGear™ Scroll Wheel lets you switch between modes — click-to-click and hyper-fast scrolling. Finally, custom-color LEDs let you customize the G9 look for a mouse that’s all your own.

Product Features:

  • Interchangeable Grips: The G9 comes with Wide Load and Precision grips to get a fit and feel that’s best for the way you play. Wide Load’s soft satin feel and fuller shape offer extra comfort. Precision Grip’s DryGrip technology plus compact shape give the utmost in fingertip control.
  • Ultra Gaming-Grade Precision: You will get uncomprimised speed and accuracy from a high-performance Gaming-Grade Laser Engine (adjustable 200 dpi – 3200 dpi) and Full-Speed USB (up to 1000 reports/second).
  • Plug-and-Play Performance: The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse performs wherever you are, you don’t even need the software. You can also keep up to 5 mouse setting profiles (including keyboard macros, dpi settings, and LED color) stored directly in on-board memory.
  • Weight Tuning System: Would you like to have a lighter mouse or a heavier mouse? You will be able to use the weight cartridge to customize your G9 for a customized feel.
  • Custom-Color LED Display: The G9’s LED display lights up to show your mouse dpi and profile settings. Choose the color of your LEDs from hundreds of options on a broad color spectrum.
  • MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel: Logitech’s exclusive MicroGear™ Scroll Wheel’s precise click-to-click scrolling is perfect for weapon selection. Or switch modes for frictionless Hyper-Fast scrolling.

The Good:

  • The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse and high dpi gives you very good accuracy
  • The adjustable weights allows you to add or remove from an internal tray up to 28 grams, which gives you more control over the mouse’s feel
  • The mouse comes with 2 grips so you can adjust the feel in your hand; the wide grip is real comfortable and both grips have a really smooth surface.
  • You will be able to save up to 5 profiles to the mouse’s internal memory; there is a switch on the bottom so you can choose what profile you want
  • You can coordinate the LED lights on top with your profiles by number and color
  • You can also use the scroll to “click” or hyper-scroll” which allows for normal to superfast page scrolling
  • The side buttons makes for easy forward/back capabilities for internet browsing

The Bad:

  • Sorry lefties, this mouse is designed for right handed people only
  • Logitech’s Setpoint software has been known to have problems
  • Their is a lack of midline buttons and other function keys which limits the amount of extra functions
  • It would have been nice if the Logitech G9 would have come with more than 2 grips; this only comes with a normal grip and a wide one

I’ve been a Logitech gaming-mouse user/lover for a long time. In fact, the last four mice I’ve used with my gaming rig have been the MX510 (Blue), MX518, G5 (1st version) and now the G9.

The G9 is the perfect combination of the old G5 (precision, accuracy and on-the-fly resolution adjustments) and the MX revolution (with that killer mouse wheel), stuffed into in a customizable, comfortable and easy to control form factor.

If you are a claw grip user like me, which means you hold and move your mouse with your fingers without moving your arm, then this mouse might not be for you. Claw users love the precision and speed that we can move the mouse in games versus the whole-arm movement of palm users. If I need extra pixel by pixel precision such as Photoshop work, then as a claw user I can place my thumb and right 2 fingers on the mouse pad and slowly guide the mouse around.
